What is the Browser List?

The Browser List allows you to browse to your file or history clips.

Where to find?

You can find the Browser List on the left side of the main window.

You can hide or unhide the Clip Browser: Menu > View > Show Browser List (Ctrl+Alt+2)

CME Browser History where.png

History contains all clips that are captured in the background, if the option "Record Clip History" is on. The history part of the browser contains a couple of pre-defined smart folders:

Smart folder Description
Favorites Contains all history clips marked as favorite.
Today Contains all history clips recorded today.
Yesterday Contains all history clips recorded yesterday.
Past week Contains all history clips recorded past week.
Layout elements Contains XMLO history clips. (Layout elements)
Tables Contains XMTB history clips. (Tables)
Fields Contains XMFD history clips. (Fields)
Scripts Contains XMSC history clips. (Scripts)

Badges

On the right side of the smart folder, you may find a badge with a number.

This number indicates how many unopened/unread history clips are in this folder.

In the preferences you can decide if Clip Manager should mark all unread clips as read when closing the application.

Drag and drop

The history area of the browser supports a couple of drag and drop actions, but you can only drag a clip to the history folders and never to the smart folders.

  • You can drag any kind of Clip in Clip Manager Express to move, create of copy the clip. These include:
    • The current loaded clip (from the icon in the Clip Info)
    • The current selection in the Clip View
    • Any file from the Clip List
  • You can drag any kind of Clip from the Finder or other app to copy the clip to the history database.

Clip History database

The clips are stored in an SQLite database and can be found in at c:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/myFMbutler/Clip Manager Express/ClipManagerClipDB.

If for one or other rare reason this database should become corrupt, you can remove it. Clip Manager will automatically create a new empty database at start-up.

Note: Clip Manager 3 contains a build-in feature to backup this database. This is no longer the case with Clip Manager 4. We recommend you backup this database with backup tools.
